SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Reagents

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is a positive-sense, single- stranded RNA virus that causes the potentially lethal COVID-19 respiratory tract infection. SARS-CoV-2 belongs to the beta coronaviruses and has not been previously identified in humans. Scientists and physicians around the world race to understand this new virus and the pathophysiology of COVID-19 to uncover treatment possibilities, to discover effective therapeutic agents and to develop vaccines.
Nucleocapsid (N) protein
Wraps RNA genome and forms a threadlike helical structure. Phosphorylation may be related to virion assembly.
 
Spike (S) protein  |  S1 |   S2  |   RBD
Large, highly glycosylated trimeric transmembrane protein that project from the virion surface. The amino-terminal S1 subunit is the most divergent region whereas the carboxy-terminal S2 subunit is more conserved. The receptor-binding domains (RBDs) are shown in S1, which mediates viral entry.
 
Envelope (E) protein
Minor component of virion. Small polypeptide of around 10 kDa.
 
Membrane (M) protein
The most abundant constituent of coronaviruses.
 
ACE2
Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is the cellular receptor for SARS-CoV-2.
 
TMPRSS2
TMPRSS2, a serine protease, is a critical factor in the priming of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This is an essential step for viral entry into host cells through fusion of the viral and cellular membranes.
