In this webinar, you will learn:
- Enzymes are valuable industrial catalysts for green chemistry applications.
- The operational stability of enzymes can be engineered and enhanced.
- Light-sensitive cofactors, such as pyridoxal 5′-phosphate (PLP), play a crucial role in maintaining enzyme stability.
Biocatalysis is a key green technology, yet poor operational stability often limits enzyme adoption in industry. Focusing on (S)-selective amine transaminases (ATAs), crucial for chiral amine synthesis, Prof. Per Berglund’s team investigated their destabilization mechanisms and developed strategies to enhance their robustness. In his talk, Prof. Berglund addresses the impact of light-induced PLP cofactor degradation and presents an integrated engineering approach combining consensus sequence analysis, ancestral sequence reconstruction, and B-factor-guided proline engineering to improve enzyme performance.
