CAR-T cell therapy for blood cancers: WHY METABOLISM MATTERS

Webinar overview

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells are highly effective in treating most cases of Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL); however, only ~30% of patients experience durable, long-term responses. Understanding the cellular underpinnings of why some patients do not respond to CAR-T cell therapy remains critical to developing novel therapeutic strategies for these patients.

T cell metabolism plays a central role in shaping effector functions and persistence, and in the context of CAR-T cells, directly impacts anti-tumor responses in patients. Immunometabolism, an exciting and fast-growing field that explores the metabolic processes used by immune cells, can be used to study T cell metabolic pathways implicated in anti-tumor responses.

In this webinar, Dr Ellen King from King’s College London will share insights into how advanced single-cell analysis techniques such as Met-Flow are helping researchers overcome the challenge of mapping dynamic metabolic shifts across highly heterogeneous patient-derived immune cell populations. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how metabolic pathway markers can be integrated with immunophenotyping and functional assessment, and how these approaches are advancing research into CAR-T response, predictive biomarkers, and novel therapeutic opportunities.
