In This Webinar, You Will Learn:
• Targeting molecular mechanisms of SCLC metastasis formation
• Mechanisms of SCLC resistance to immune checkpoint blockade and immune evasion
• Targeting ERBB2 signaling induces MHC-I expression and improves the response to immune checkpoint blockade
About This Webinar:
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is characterized by its highly aggressive phenotype, systemic metastases, and poor clinical outcome. Despite the benefits of adding immune checkpoint blockade to standard chemotherapy, tumors frequently evade immunosurveillance and develop therapy resistance. Dr. Lydia Meder and her group investigated molecular pathways underlying SCLC metastasis formation and were able to therapeutically block liver colonization. Moreover, they observed MHC-I loss in SCLC metastases, highlighting its role in immune evasion. They identified ERBB2 signaling as a suppressor of MHC-I and driver of immunomodulatory transcripts. Strikingly, combining ERBB2 inhibition with immune checkpoint blockade elicits profound T-cell responses in autochthonous murine SCLC, supporting further evaluation of this combination in future clinical trials in patients with SCLC.
