Zymo's DNA/RNA shield inactivates monkeypox

Monkeypox cases are rising worldwide and a safe and reliable way to collect and transport samples is needed.

After already being of great use for transporting COVID-19 samples, Zymo’s DNA/RNA shield was now successfully tested to also completely inactivate the monkeypox virusses, while maintaining it’s genetic integrity.

In collaboration with the Institute of Virology, University Medical Center in Freiburg, Germany, it was demonstrated that a complete inactivation of recent Monkeypox can be achieved using DNA/RNA Shield as Inactivating Transport Medium (ITM). This enables a safe and efficient transport of the samples and protect the scientists working in the field of infectious diseases.

DNA/RNA Shield is avialable in bulk format or in a variety of specific collection devices for safe and convenient sample collection. Samples collected in DNA/RNA Shield can be further processed with Zymo’s DNA and RNA isolation kits without additional cleanup.
